Chasing the snow up to Luž

After the concert last night and very little sleep at night, I still managed to get up at 7 a.m. to go back to the Zittau Mountains. At least it was encouraging that after a week with storm and a lot of rain, the sun was shining again. Nice until you get out of the car and find that an icy wind is blowing. But we didn’t let that stop us.

From Waltersdorf we went up over the Vyhlídka to Luž. After a short time it became clear to us what I was hoping for: there was snow. If winter doesn’t come to us, I go to the winter.

The steep climb was not easier by the snow and the frozen ice, but challenges are always nice. Unfortunately, the fog completely covered the view, but that’s how it often is in winter.

And then came the descent. If there is something I cannot do, it is to go down steeply at a comfortable pace. So everything was safely stowed away and off we went. I’m not a runner, but there are sometimes short sprints downhill. Especially in the snow, I find it easier not to slip.

Not far from the Luž there was a refreshment, like always of a fruit tea and goulash.

Back we decided to go over the Nonnenfelsen along the green hiking trail. Alternatively, we could have gone over the Buchberg, but we avoided it this time due to the cold, and yes, I admit it, it was at my request.
