Linz – Bratislava; over 350 km for some ice cream

If you don’t know where your limit is yet, just keep going.

Over 350 km, 4500m of altitude and ninety-seven hours on my feet. My motivation to hike through 13 days and take on all these kilometers? I knew that my favorite ice cream was waiting for me at the end of the trip.

Via detours back to Slovakia

The original idea from last year was to walk from Budapest to Bratislava. From one capital to the other, along the Danube. Due to the ongoing pandemic with its changing rules and regulations, I thought that maybe I would rather hike through a country whose language I know at least to some extent, which would not have been the case in Hungary. However, I did not want to give up the final destination, Devín Castle, since my last year’s trip had already ended there.

This time I also didn’t want to interrupt my running streak. So every morning before breakfast I first ran a mile, sometimes slowly and sometimes even a little slower, but I kept it up.

All goals achieved!
